In a case study at a public university, Advisor.AI provided students with comprehensive guidance to meet academic requirements while helping them define and pursue personal goals. The platform mapped coursework to career paths, recommended majors, minors, and certificates, and offered insights for informed decisions and timely graduation.
Beyond academic success, Advisor.AI supported students in exploring careers, developing resumes, mapping skills, setting goals, and preparing for interviews. This holistic approach boosted confidence, maintained motivation, and prepared students for successful transition from student to working adult.
For advisors and career coaches, Advisor.AI offered tools that enabled personalized guidance through streamlined workflows, case management and analytical dashboards. The all-in-one resources allowed advisors to focus on building student confidence, defining goals and driving success, ultimately increasing retention and fostering student growth.
In 2023, Advisor.AI partnered with a 4-year public university to accelerate and transform its student success initiatives. This mid-sized university, with over 8,000 students, collaborated with Advisor.AI. A total of 124 first-year students participated, along with five academic and career advisors. To protect ongoing initiatives and maintain competitive advantage, we have kept the university’s identity confidential.
If universities provide a personalized, streamlined, and self-service approach to obtaining essential academic and career advising insights throughout the student journey, more students will complete their degrees on time, access timely support and be better prepared for career success.
1. Self-Assessment: First-year and undeclared students answered ten questions about their academic interests, career goals, and personal motivations. The assessment, trained on decades of career data, dynamically personalizes based on each student’s preferences.
2. Automated Assistance: The Al assistant simplifies career and major exploration by searching through hundreds of university-specific majors, minors, and certificates, matching them with recent employment data trends, job profiles, and compensation information.
3. Feedback Workflows: Upon completing the assessment, or if uncertain about their results, students are encouraged to share the gathered insights with their advising team with a single click.
4. Admin Dashboard: University advisors can easily view student insights, task completion rates, and engagement reports through an admin dashboard.
After implementing a self-directed approach for students to seek essential career and course information, student confidence in the return on investment for their degree rose by 8 points, reaching 14. This increase in confidence promises higher persistence and completion rates. According to industry research, holistic advising support increases student persistence and career mobility by 2X

Our initial survey revealed that only 70% of students had completed mandatory advising tasks, indicating a significant gap in engagement and persistence outcomes. After implementing Advisor.AI, student engagement in mandatory tasks increased to over 90%. Students provided positive feedback on the new system, citing its ease of use, personalized recommendations and quality results as key reasons for increased engagement.
Advisor.AI provides students with the tools and personalized insights needed to explore career and coursework options,
ensuring they are well-prepared before meeting with academic advisors and career coaches. We also provided support resources with an admin console, enabling easy viewing of student insights and feedback for future tasks and next steps, transforming the student-advisor relationship and experience. Additionally, our platform optimized the admin time typically spent on feedback collection. Within two weeks, we discovered that 50% of students sought guidance on securing internships and defining class schedules within business programs.
The platform facilitated personalized career and educational pathway suggestions, supported by timely nudges and feedback workflows. These features helped students connect with the university’s career services team, leading to a significant increase in student interest and engagement. Baseline engagement with career services was 30 tasks per week per advisor, which rose to over 40 tasks during the experiment.
